If you haven’t been tested before having sex, the next best time is 10 days after having sex with a new partner. After exposure, it can take up to 10 days for an infection to show up in an STI test.
If you believe you have been exposed and/or contracted an STI or you have symptoms, you should make an appointment as soon as possible.
